Paul Lawrie
Kalixa has been sponsoring former Open Champion Paul Lawrie
since the start of 2010.
Hailing from Aberdeen in the North East of Scotland, Paul famously
won the Open Championships in 1999 and now belongs in a small
bracket of golfers to have won arguably the most prestigious golf
event of all time. With four further wins on the European Tour, the
control Paul displays on the course demonstrates a perfect
brand-fit with the pay-as-you-go Kalixa prepaid MasterCard, and the
financial control it provides its cardholders.
Paul turned pro at 17, originally intending to be a club pro.
After winning the first pro event he entered - the Moray Seafoods
Open at Buckpool - his thoughts soon turned to being a touring
pro.

Paul's first big win was the Scottish Assistants Championship at
Cruden Bay, and since then - amongst many other highlights - he's
won The Open, played in the Ryder Cup and been awarded his MBE at
Buckingham Palace.
But success and personal victory was not enough for Paul. Soon
after winning The Open in 1999, he seriously began to consider what
he could put back into the game. The result, launched in March
2001, was the Paul Lawrie Foundation, one of Scotland's leading
programmes dedicated to developing and sustaining an interest in
golf for the under-18s.
Keen to share his golfing skills further, Paul will be coaching
golf clinics over the year, where he'll guide a number of lucky
competition winners through some key shots, revealing some of the
strategies that have helped him reach the top of his game.
